Me: "Claire, you didn't eat much of your lunch today.  Why not?"

Claire:  "It wasn't very tasty, momma.  You shouldn't put vegetables in my sandwich."

Labor Pains

Mommy: "Claire, thank you so much.  That rubbing was really helpful."
Claire:  "You're welcome.  Next time you fall asleep, I'll rub you again."

(Um, yeah, not sleeping.  Having contractions)

Not yet a Terps Fan

Claire: "Daddy, do you want to play babies?"
Jason: "Sure, do you think the babies want to play in the living room while we watch football?"
Claire: "No, they want to play in the playroom."
Jason: "Don't the babies like to watch football? 
Claire: "No, Daddy, the babies like to watch shows"

(and by shows, she means Dora, Team Umizoomi, and Super Why)

I thought I would resurrect this blog just to record the things Claire says.  They're too funny not to capture, remember and share.

Teacher at Kidville: "Another rule in class is that there's NO hitting"
Claire: "It's ok for kangaroos to hit"
(Where did she get that?)

Claire: "When I get big, can I go to college too?"
Mommy: "Of course you can"
Claire: "Will you come with me Mommy?"
(Oh Claire, I seriously doubt you'll want me to when the time comes)

Jason: "What's this game? Take all your stickers and rip them in half?"
Claire: "No, I'm just taking their legs off?"
(Does she need therapy already)

Claire: "What's this Dada?"
Jason: "That's Daddy's belt"
Claire: "When I get big, and I'm a boy, and I go to work, then i'll wear MY belt.  It's pink and purple"

Claire: "Mommy, when I look for dinosaur eggs, I don't want the stinky ones"
Mommy: "When did you look for dinosaur eggs?"
Claire: "When I was a paleontologist.  I looked for the hatched ones. Pink and green and purple, but not the stinky ones."

Get in Shape Girl

Claire and I go to Baby Gym on Wednesdays.  Claire really got her workout in last week with the walker.

Burkey Love

This weekend, the Burkeys came to town for a visit.  Unfortunately, they only really got to hang out with 2/3 of the Emala family.  Poor Jason had to work ALL weekend, and we only saw him at dinner on Saturday night.

After a late night arrival on Thursday evening, we were up and at 'em early on Friday morning like only the parents of young children are forced to be.  Jason headed into the office, and after a necessary Starbucks fuel-up, the rest of us drove up to Eagle Rock Reservation.  Essex County just dedicated a memorial to 9-11 there, and I had heard there are great views of NYC too.  We wandered around for a bit, and then hit the road for some shopping for the kiddos.

After lunch at home and naps, we took the girls to the playground to burn off some steam, and then a walk through town on our way home for some exercise for the adults.

Sesame Street

We kept Friday low key and on Cece and Claire's respective schedules because we knew we'd be asking a lot of them on Saturday for out trip into the city.

We drove in to meet Jeff and Livy's friend, Sara, and her husband for lunch in Chelsea and some hanging out time in The High Line park and on the roof of their apartment building.  In the afternoon, we braved the crowds of Times Square to check out the Toys 'R Us with the carousel inside and to say a quick 5 minute hello to Jason.

I cooked up a feast of eggs, pancakes and bacon for breakfast Sunday morning and then the Burkeys were off on their drive home.  Jason once again headed into the office for the day, so Claire and I decided to go for a hike in the woods nearby to get some exercise and fresh air before we settled in for some Sunday Funday Football :)
