Claire willingly ate some solids on Thursday and even more enthusiastically yesterday. Apples did the trick, so now we're moving back to veggies. Peas and sweet potatoes are next.

Start 'em Young
that's our motto - at least when it comes to wine tasting.
Saturday was a beautiful day. We drove west about 45 minutes to Cava Winery in Hamburg, NJ.
Claire was excited. She wanted Panda to enjoy the experience too.
While Jason and I tasted wine, Claire tasted the napkins.
Their method of wine tasting was a little unorthodox. They sold flights instead of tasting at the bar. Whatevs - as long as we get to sip.
This particular weekend offered barrel tastings, something Jason and I had never done before. The man in the black shirt is Anthony, the owner and wine maker at Cava.
Claire looks cheerful here, but that's because I was holding her. She insisted on being held about half way through, and only by me. I can assure you that shortly before this picture was taken, she was making a scene.
Once we went outside for a shared glass and some cheese, salami and crackers, Claire got Sophie in on the action and had LOADS of fun playing with the pebbles.

So
I have felt LESS than motivated to blog the last few months.
It isn't because I feel like our new life is less glamorous than our London years - well, I mean, it is less glamorous. But it's not less interesting - it's just different.
I knew from looking at traffic on the blog that hardly anyone was reading it anymore (as confirmed by the small number of people who requested an invite) Concocting long blog posts with pictures and witty commentary is time consuming, and the need to simply get caught up on house chores after Claire goes to bed is time consuming too. Plus, being a new mommy is TOUGH, and the thought of blogging at the end of the day did not interest me at all.
That being said, I always enjoyed looking back through our London blog, and I know that down the road I'll appreciate being able to look back on this blog too. So, I'm rededicating myself.

Going Private
I've been getting some traffic from questionable sources recently, so I'm going to make this blog private for safety purposes. If you want to continue to read, let me know, and I'll send you an invitation.

6 Months
Claire had her 6 month birthday on Monday. I was looking at pictures of her from January and February yesterday, and it's amazing how much she's grown in such a short time. That's what babies do though.
At her Dr. appointment today, Claire weighed in at 17.5 lbs and 25 1/4 inches. 75% for weight and 25% for height. She's moving right along with the curve on both growth charts.
About a week after she hit 5 months, Claire began sitting up unassisted. It's really the only position she wants to be in now. She will sit on the floor on her blanket for long periods of time playing with her toys. She will occasionally fall over onto her tummy, but she gets very frustrated by her limited mobility when on her stomach and will whine until we plop her back on her tush.
Her toys usually end up in a semi-circle around her within easy reach. She picks one up, puts it in her mouth, bangs it around for a bit, then flings it away to be replaced with another. Current floor-time favorites are Chiara, BD Baby, Whoozit, Abby Cadabby, and Meowser. When we're on the go, she loves having Sofie the giraffe, Jacques the Peacock, and Lucky the Lion along for the ride.
Claire loves to "read". Claire and Jason start every morning reading a few books together. Jason struggles to read and turn the pages while Claire struggles to get as much of the book in her mouth as possible. She doesn't just listen to the stories, she tastes them! She also has a real craving for paper products of any kind as well as plastic bags. I often worry that she may have Pica.
Her personality is really starting to show - I think we're in for a wild ride :)
